富士山麓の信仰の営み
富士山は、古くから人々の信仰を集め、人々は富士山麓の様々な場所で、神や仏に祈りをささげる場所を作りました。
富士市の鷹岡地区には双体道祖神が多数祀られており、富士を仰ぐ地で、信仰心豊かな生活が行われていたことが伺われます。
Mt.Fuji,the great symbol of Japan and sacred mountain,has long been the object of worship among Japanese. Local people deified the deity called "Dosojin" at roadsides in the foot of Mt.Fuji. Especially, Sotai-Dosojins have been deified in Takaoka-area.
Sotai-Dosojins look like a human couple,and they are believed to protect travelers and villages from epidemics and evil spirits.
